ABOUT THE Session
We’ve all been there before. You get blind-sided by a question you didn’t expect or hear a subtle accusation in your colleague’s or client’s tone. For a moment, you feel like your credibility and authority (not to mention your confidence) have been undermined.
How do you answer eloquently and make your point of view heard without getting defensive and escalating the tension in the room?
Luckily, there’s an art to answering tough questions. In this class, you’ll be introduced to time-tested principles from the world of media training that can help you handle objections and manage skeptics. You’ll walk away with three formulas - along with real-life examples - that you can use to deftly respond to even tough questions without breaking a sweat or missing a beat.
what you’ll learn
Three key formulas for responding to a variety of question types—and when to use each;
How to remain calm and non-defensive when feeling otherwise;
Why shorter answers give you greater control;
Why you need to respond to the intent, not content of a tough question;
How to use a “questioning” technique to move past conversational roadblocks.
OPTIONAL LEARNING LAB WORKSHOP AVAILABLE
Looking to offer participants a hands-on experience after they take this class? Our Learning Lab add-on class may be just the thing. Learning Labs give participants a chance to bring in their own content and practice key skills for instructor feedback. So that we can offer a personalized experience, we limit the number of attendees who can join each Learning Lab. Each participant will be asked to complete some light “pre-work” beforehand so they come to the session warmed up and ready to go.
